District & State Honor Band Students Shining
On Saturday, January 17, eighty-six (86) Union Bands 7th, 8th, & 9th Grade students earned performing & alternate positions in the Northeast Oklahoma Band Directors Association (NBDA) Junior-High All-District Honor Band. These students will participate in a special clinic and concert on the weekend of February 13-14, hosted at Union High School. Special appreciation to the staff and volunteers of Clyde Boyd Middle School in Sand Springs for hosting the auditions, and congrats to all Union students who prepared and auditioned.

In November 2014, thirty-nine (39) Union Bands 10th, 11th, & 12th graders earned performing & alternate positions in the NBDA High School All-District Honor Band, and participated in a clinic/concert on January 9-10. Congrats to all auditioning students and thanks to Broken Arrow HS for hosting auditions and Bartlesville HS for hosting the clinic.
Of the 39 Union students who made the district honor band in November, six (6) went on to audition for and earn a performing position in the Oklahoma All-State Band and All-State Jazz Band. Congrats to: Marie Gordon (Jr-Oboe), Megan Harju (Sr-Oboe), Rachel Morris (Sr-Clarinet), Drew Thomas (Jr- Jazz Sax), Freddy Vega (Soph-Bass Clarinet), & Karen Vega (Sr-Piccolo). These students have the honor of attending the All-State clinic and concerts on January 22-24 in Downtown Tulsa.

RENEGADE REGIMENT: 2014 BOA GRAND NATIONAL FINALIST
Congratulations to the Renegade Regiment for competing as a Finalist for the tenth time in the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, IN, on November 15. Performing among 93 other bands from around the country over a 4-day period, the Regiment earned a spot as one of 35 semi-finalists, and then one of 12 finalists to compete in the finale on Saturday evening at Lucas Oil Stadium. An 11th place standing capped off an incredible season, beautiful program, dedicated student performers, spectacular design team, tireless volunteers, and a passionate staff of teachers. Other Finals appearances: 1981, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2010, and 2011.
Union Bands is a fine arts entity of the Union Public Schools, an Independent School District located in southeast Tulsa, Oklahoma. This organization has a proud tradition of excellent students, teachers, parents, and directors, and is supported by one of the most progressive administrative teams in the country.
During the past three decades, Union Bands have provided unparalleled opportunities, experiences, and achievements for its young musicians and performers. As a result, the performing groups within the program have produced numerous state, regional, & national championships.
