EVENT DETAILS & POLICIES
Attendance at pep band performances is mandatory and assessed for a grade in each student's band class.
Student performance attire:
Shirt or sweatshirt/hoodie or jacket: Union Bands, Union Redhawks, or Union attire.
Comfortable shoes and jeans or other pants.
Please wear neutral colors, such as whites, grays, blacks.
Red is also acceptable.
Avoid blues, greens, yellows, pinks, purples, oranges, crimsons, and browns
Call time for the first assigned game is 5:45pm (5:15pm for Pep Band ‘B’ on Tues Jan 28), in the UHS band room, after which students will move as a group to the UMAC. Call time for the second assigned game is 6:00pm.
With the exception of Pep Band ‘B’ on Tues Jan 28 (which starts at 6pm), the Varsity Ladies game begins at 6:30pm, and the Men’s game begins at 8:00pm, both pending the completion time of the preceding game.
Students will be given a break in between the games to use the bathroom, purchase concessions, etc.
9:30pm is the approximate finish/release time, depending on the length of the game.
All students should have departed from campus or been picked up within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the final game.
EVENT PROCEDURES
Be ready to play on short notice. We generally play ONLY during time-outs (some are 30 seconds, some are 60) and at the end of quarters.
Be ready to STOP playing on short notice; we cannot play while the game clock is in motion, so watch for the possibility that a directors cuts off the music midstream.
Use the restroom at the appointed times (halftimes and between games), as you won't be permitted to do so otherwise.
If getting a ride home from a parent, etc., call or send them a message during the 4th quarter of the men's game. NOTE: if the game nears the end with a close score, it might take a long time for the game to actually conclude.
Grading
Each assigned date/performance counts as a grade.
Students who are no-show for an assigned event will receive zero credit.
Students may make up a missed assigned performance by attending a subsequent game, but will be awarded only half-credit.
A student may request to swap dates with a peer of the same instrument section and still receive full grading credit, provided that both of the students are aware and agreeable in advance. Swaps must be requested in advance of the event CLICK HERE. Approved requests will not show as updated on the Canvas roster.
