Drumline Takes Silver in Dayton
The Union H.S. Indoor Drumline returned from Dayton, Ohio on Sunday afternoon after performing in three rounds of the World Championship of competitive drumlines on Thursday/Friday/Saturday, bringing home a Silver Medal! Participating alongside 200+ ensembles from around the country, and competing against 41 other ensembles in the WGI Percussion Scholastic Open Classification, Union finished in 3rd Place in the Preliminary Round & 2nd Place in the Semifinal Round, and earned a Final score of 96.775, including a perfect 100 in the Musicianship-Effect category of adjudication. After nearly 30 years of participation in WGI marching events, 2023 marks Union’s strongest-ever finish and its first-ever medal. Union H.S. Drumline Wins State Championship
Union High School’s Indoor Drumline earned First Place at the 2023 Winter Guard & Percussion of Oklahoma (WGPO) State Championship event on Saturday April 8. Just one week after the Union HS Winter Guard won the WGPO Scholastic A Class State Championship, the Union HS Indoor Drumline was crowned the Percussion Division Scholastic Open Classification State Champion with a score of 89.00, the highest among all 80+ competing ensembles of the entire WGPO circuit during the 2023 season.
Returning to competition for the first time since Spring 2020 when the pandemic truncated a promising season, the 2023 Union Indoor Drumline travels to Dayton, Ohio to compete at the WGI Percussion World Championship, April 19-22. Supported by a sensational team of teaching staff, creative designers, & volunteers, the Drumline is led by first-year Union Percussion Director Mr. Garett Dwyer, UHS Class of 2018 alumnus and 2022 graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Admission is free and open to the public.
