Congratulations to the Union H.S. Varsity Winter Guard on winning the 2024 State Championship, their second state-level gold medal win in the last two years! The Winter Guard & Percussion of Oklahoma (WGPO ) competitive circuit held its annual championship event on Saturday, April 6 at Jenks High School, with nearly 70 competing units. Not only did Union Varsity win the Scholastic A Class State Championship, their score was the highest among all competitors from 7 different classifications.
Union continues its competitive season at the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championship Event, held April 11-13 in Dayton, OH. Headed into the preliminary round Union is well-poised to compete in their classification, currently seeded in the top 20 among a field of 120 competing units. Union performs in the prelims at Cincinnati’s Cintas Center on Thursday, April 11 at 3:11pm CDT, with the Semi-Final and Final rounds of competition scheduled for Friday, April 12 at Wright State University and the University of Dayton.
